About PDF metadata

What gets removed?: The author, title, subject, keywords, creator/producer software and creation & modification dates in the document Info dictionary, plus any embedded XMP metadata stream.
Does the page content change?: No. Only document-level metadata is cleared; pages, text, images and layout are left exactly as they were.
What about encrypted PDFs?: We try to read and clean while ignoring permissions; if a document is strongly encrypted and can't be parsed, decrypt it first.
